One of the reasons I have loved my career in dentistry is that it is constantly evolving. At Markiewicz Dental, we are constantly upgrading our skills and technology to stay current and offer our patients the best dentistry possible. While much of our focus this last year has been on the pandemic and its implications to delivering safe dental care, we have continued to upgrade our skills and technology. Our focus has been the expansion of our use of digital technologies, both clinically and for patient communication and access.
Our doctors and team have continued to improve our skills, utilizing virtual continuing education. We recently completed our first hands-on CE since the pandemic, renewing our team’s CPR certification. Dr. David and Dr. Tony have hands-on workshops scheduled for later this year.
Last year, in response to the pandemic, we implemented Patient Protection Protocols. We have continued to modify those protocols based on changing conditions and current guidelines and will continue to do so. We are following best practices to ensure patient safety. We have remained focused on COVID safety protocols.
While it is only recently that health organizations have recognized COVID as being airborne, we assumed it was airborne from the very beginning. We commit to following the science and aerosol scientists made the case for airborne transmission at the outset of the pandemic. We remodeled and invested in ventilation and air filtration. Investments which not only protect against COVID, but all airborne diseases including influenza and the common cold.
Vaccinations are slowing the spread of COVID, but for now, we continue to require all team members and patients to mask in public areas and undergoing a simple COVID-19 screening including body temperature. We will modify if conditions and recommendations change.
